Rocky road bars

Who does't like chocolates? If you don't then you are most definitely weird! With marshmallows, chocolates and crunchy undertones, what can possibly ever go wrong?? (Of course, not a question of lactose and gluten intolerant...) Anyway, I absolutely love easy recipes, and this is one of the easiest ones I've ever done! Just takes 5 ingredients and ready in less than 5 minutes (before freezing for 30-45 minutes) :)

According to Wikipedia, the name comes from the ice cream created in 1929 by one William Dreyer of Oakland, California, U.S.A. He had added marshmallows and walnuts into his chocolate ice cream, which in turn was inspired by the candy bars made by his business partner, Joseph Edy, for their ice cream and frozen yogurt company, Dreyer's. They came up with the name, and I quote, "to give folks something to smile about in the midst of the Great Depression".

Anyway, coming to the super easy recipe of the rocky road bars, here's what you need.

Ingredients:

1. 200g cooking chocolate
2. 1/2 cup Salted peanuts
3. 1/2 cup Marshmallow
4. 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
5. 5-6 Mcvities digestive biscuits

Tools:

1. A bowl
2. Shallow dish
3. Aluminium foil or grease paper to cover the dish
4. Spoon
5. Knife

Procedure:

1. First of all, crush the biscuits either in a separate bowl using a rolling pin or in the main dish with a fist like I did (cause I'm hardcore :p).

2. Add the nuts and marshmallows. If you don't like peanuts, you can use other crushed nuts like walnuts, almond flakes, even raisins and dates.

3. Melt the chocolate with the unsalted butter either over boiling water like the pros do or just microwave it for 3 minutes, stirring every 1 minute until melted.

4. Now this part is optional: separate the melted chocolate into two parts of 3/4th and 1/4th quantity. In the 3/4th part, add the dry mixture and mix the chocolate with the dry mixture well before transferring to the shallow dish. Then top it with the rest of the melted chocolate, finishing off with some extra marshmallows and nuts on top. Cover with a cling film and freeze for 30-45 minutes.

5. Once frozen, take it out and cut out small squares. It can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

Now, enjoy!
